Elizabeth Smith Miller co-founded the National Woman Suffrage Association with Susan B Anthony & Elizabeth Cady Stanton, her cousin. Her parents, Ann Carroll Fitzhugh and Gerrit Smith of Peterboro New York were notable abolition & women's rights activists hosting an Underground Railroad & the first National American Anti-Slavery Society Meeting. She also is said to be the first woman to wear the Turkish style "Bloomer" outfit also worn by Amelia Bloomer. An original Civil War era CDV vignette photo from an 1850s era daguerreotype of young Elizabeth.

The CDV reverse bears the imprint of Rockwood, Photographer, 839 Broadway, N. I got this w other views from a CDV album of the Bachus family, who were close relatives of her and husband Gerritt.
