US Civil War M1861 Cartridge Box With Sling. Hoover, Calhoun & Co. NY. Very Nice

  

For sale here is a very nice US Civil War M1861 Cartridge Box W/ Sling. I believe the sling is a reproduction, but it is nice and has good age to it!

The cartridge box is complete with frontal brass US oval plate. The box is maker marked by Hoover, Calhoun & Co. The closure strap is marked with the inspector initials of F. The leather and all stitching are strong and flexible, but they do show age, use, wear, and some crazing. The sling fits this box nicely.

The metal insert is missing and so are the wooden pegs that hold the plate in place, but it isn't going anywhere. One of the side internal flags has broken off, but it is inside of the box. This is a rare model in remarkable condition that will display well. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have. Please take a look at my other great items!
