The Army of the Potomac by Bruce Catton. Doubleday Press w/ Dust Covers. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep them for yourself.

Good condition 3 Volume Set of 1st Edition Books entitled, "The Army of the Potomac" by Bruce Catton. The publisher is Doubleday & Company of New York, noted as a book club edition. T he books are not signed by the author. Lincoln's Army, was put out in 1951/1952, a first edition. The dust jacket is with this volume. The second volume, Glory Road, was put out in 1952, a first edition. Dust jacket shows some wear and tear and tape on the side of dust cover.

The third volume, A Stillness at Appomattox, was put out in 1953, also a first edition book. The dust jacket shows some wear and tear. This item came from the estate of a party that was a huge collector of Civil War books and artwork. Also, many items dealing with General George Armstrong Custer, and other historical figures and events.

So, keep looking to our online store here as they will be offered for sale separately. Some of the items are Native American artwork, Abraham Lincoln Books (Sandburg and a 9 Vol Collection of Abe's Papers & Correspondence), George Armstrong Custer artwork, and books on the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, both antique and vintage. Civil War books include a number of ones done by Bruce Catton and Shelby Foote. Also, Charles Lindbergh books and the salesman sample for the Beamish biography on him. We can do that by being a dealer in artwork for over 40 years, better controlling our acquisition costs, keeping commission costs low (if applicable).

Slight musty/dusty smell to the books, no mold or mildew issues. Foxing or brown spotting to the pages. No writing or owner marks/stamps in the books. The books have red hardcovers and spines with black writing and detailing.

The pages are well bound together in the volumes and each book still has the finish firmly on the spine. The dust covers are in place on all 3 books.

The dust covers have some minor wear and soiling and tears as shown in the pics. Some minor spotting and soiling to the covers and pages of the books themselves. Each book is 8.5" tall, by 5-7/8" across, by approximately 1" to 1.25" wide.

Volume 1 is 363 pages in length. Volume 2 is 395 pages in length. Volume 3 is 438 pages in length. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
