Sutler Scrip 2nd Regiment New York Heavy Artillery D. Originally assigned to defensive positions around the District of Columbia, the 2nd Regiment New York Heavy Artillery was first bloodied in the summer of 1864 in a series of actions in Virginia including Cold Harbor, Petersburg, and Appomattox.
