This book belonged to George W.

Baird 1st Connecticut Light Battery in August 1862 and served with the unit until 1864, when he was appointed Colonel of the 32nd U. Colored infantry, he mustered out with his regiment in March 1865, and was appointed as a second lieutenant of the nineteenth infantry Regiment in May 1866. From 1871 to 1879 he served as adjutant of the Fifth infantry Regiment Commanded by Nelson A.

Miles and served under him in the Nez Perce War. He received the Medal of Honor for actions during the Indian Wars. Book measures 6 1/4'' x 9 3/8''.
