Volume One has a Proclamation Printed within given by President Abraham Lincoln, Calling forth the Militia of Several States in the Union to Suppress the Southern States.

Below the Lincoln's Proclamation is reprinted a letter from Washington's War Department, April 15, 1861, Secretary of War, Simon Cameron to Governor of New York State, Edwin D. Morgan as how to proceed with gathering the Militia, the Requirements and the Rendezvous points of signing up being, New York, Albany and Elmira. First Volume Covers Regiments 1-38. Second Volume Covers Regiments 39-67. Third Volume Covers Regiments 68-105.
