This 1865 style kepi is most likely an earlier reproduction. It does have some interesting points though, in the liner, buttons, and chin strap and buckle. The condition is very good with one small moth hole in the rear of the kepi.

An attempt to obscure a name in the lining appears to have been made at some time in the kepi's history. The buttons are Scovill buttons and correct for postwar State of New York issue. Measurements are: Crown diameter 5", with 2" rise at the front. We have marketed historical antiques since 1972 and attempt to describe them correctly. But, as collectors, each of us see things differently at times.
