This is a complete six month volume (January 5, 1861, to June 28, 1861) of the New York Illustrated News, the rare short-lived competitor to Harpers Weekly and Frank Leslies illustrated Newspaper. Binding poor, lacking spine, boards detached. Contents G/VG, with toning, foxing, light wear, and some marginal stains. Some issues (infuriatingly enough) featured two doublespreads, one of which is almost always found bound through.

This means one page of the doublespread appears early in the issue and the other page appears later. Nast worked for the magazine throughout this period.
