Lincoln Assassination Newspaper New York Times April 15th 1865. An exceptional Assassination Newspaper from April 15th. Complete original 8 page paper. A very rare April 15th. Stunning and Exceptional front page coverage. A first report from the New York Times printed during the early morning hours of the 15th are the most desired of all Lincoln Assassination newspapers. This original period newspaper is no exception and typeset printed in the early morning hours on the 15th of April 1865. The New York Times was able to run two morning editions with some variations on the front page layout. With some foxing, and a small tear at bottom edge margin and slightly extending 1/2 inch into the text. Very difficult to find in nicer condition. How we know and determine that this is a first report paper: Original and dating to the morning hrs of April 15th 1865. We have a close up photo which shows the indented impressions from being printed on a period press using typesetting of each letter which is consistent with NYTs April 1865. The paper was printed on a single sheet which is represented here. On occasion you'll find this edition cut at the top but no reproductions are printed on a single sheet and uncut in this NYTs format.

Printed on high rag content paper consistent with the period. Later reproductions were created on a higher pulp content paper and is most often very fragile and quite yellow-orange in color.

The high rag content is everything and is a very durable whiter newsprint used by dominant New York City papers 1865.
