Maroon cloth stamped in gold with decorative design on the cover. Blu floral design on endpapers. From the title page: Most important events of the Conflict between the States graphically pictured. Portraits of principal participants, military and civil; Famous forts; Pathetic episodes, etc. The whole forming an authentic pictorial history of the war, by such well-known artists as Becker, Crane, Beard, Schell, Lumley, Forbes, Nevill, Davis, Simons, Osborn, Wilcox, Weaver, Bosse, Newton, Rawson, Russell, Sartorius, Chamberlain, and ithers. Boards are worn along edges, corners, and surfaces.
The spine is faded and the tail is exposed. There are spots of discoloration and damage on the boards. The binding is holding but barely with splits in numerous locations.
The rear free endpaper is missing. There are numerous tears to pages throughout.
