General light rubbing to boards, head and tail of spine, and corners, light soiling/foxing predominantly in primaries, but occasionally and sporadically in the text also most commonly on edges of plates, very light age toning to text blocks, both volumes have two previous owner's signatures on front free fly-leaves. Davis wrote the book as a straightforward history of the Confederate States of America and as an apologetic for the causes that he believed led to and justified the American Civil War. Herein one may read right from the horse's mouth.
