By Alonzo Foster, Late Sergeant Co. Very rare US Civil War NY Union Regiment history in overall good condition with tipped in portrait of the author. Exterior shows some rubbing to the upper and lower ends of the spine as well as the outer edges of the coverboards. Exterior is in the main very clean with some superficial soiling spots to the covers. Interior is clean but the pages are somewhat brittle, especially at the inner margins as shown in images 8 and 9, this type of splitting at the inner margins of pages occurs at the first 20 to 30 pages and then occasionally reoccurs else where in the book but to a lesser extent with other marginal tears, none of which effect the text. Page leaf 55 has a hole in it as well as pencil scribble on the blank reverse side and the hole effects no text on page leaf 55 as that page only contains four lines of text. Front title page with information on the reverse side of it is detached but present and sides loose inside the front of the book. Book also has former owner's name stamp on the print information page and back endpaper. On one of the blank front endpapers is also the signature Franz G.

Foster, who is not the author. I have not researched this name or ID'd it to see if it was a Civil War officer, or some relation of the author or not and leave this to the next owner to research. Book is complete with the binding itself intact and all pages present but as mentioned the inner margins of many pages brittle with the front title page loose and a few others also loose or nearly loose. Book totals 148 pages and includes the regiment's roster.
