Civil War Bible 1862,81st Infantry NY Vol. ID'd

  
Great history to this identified Civil War Bible. Volunteers, written in pencil on the last page of the Bible.

The bible is in good condition overall, there is light wear and small tears on the bottom of the spine, corners are bumped, pages inside are faded and discolored with slight foxing due to age. James Hane enlisted on 10/23/1861 at Ohio, NY as a musician, was mustered into "C" Co. NY 81st Infantry on 11/13/1861. He was wounded at Fair Banks, Virginia on 5/31/1862 and also wounded at Cold Harbor, Virginia on 6/3/1864. He was promoted to Corporal on 4/27/1864 and later promoted to Sergeant on 5/1/1865, before he was mustered out on 8/31/1865 at Fort Monroe, Virginia.
