Civil War Battlefield Promotion 6/16/1862 by Col. James Suiter 34th NY Infantry

  
Original battlefield promotion of Augustus W. Suiter to 1st Sargent on 6/16/1862 at Fair Oaks Va. He was the brother of Col. James Suiter, commander of the 34th NY Infantry. He was a famous war hero from Herkimer, NY. This promotion was made 2 weeks after the battle of Fair Oaks or Seven Pines.

I believe there was a high casualty rate of Sargents since they were usually in front of the lines. Document is in excellent condition, measures 14-1/2 by 9-1/2 inches, no water damage and I believe is still in the original frame.
