Let's start the New Year with another fantastic offering out of my personal collection. This is an original authentic Civil War used Union enlistedman's infantry kepi of the famous 69th New York of the hard fighting Irish Brigade.
This headgear is in wonderful condition with absolutely no repairs. It has just some minor ticks of mothing and no damage of any kind. The inner sweatband shows some wear but is complete.
The chin strap is often missing on these kepis, and this kepi has the original chin strap attached with both eagle buttons. The color is vibrant, just as it would've been no doubt when it was issued. It has the red 2nd corps cloverleaf patch affixed to the top of the crown.
It also has the number 69 for the 69th New York on the front of the kepi. The visor is in great condition and securely attached. The Irish Brigade is infamous for its many engagements with the Army of the Potomac none more famous than their assault from Rummels farm at Antietam towards the Bloody Lane.
This is memorialized in Troiani's art print. It would be virtually impossible to improve on the condition or upgrade this kepi. It's just a fabulous original issued and used kepi. Don't miss your chance to add this to your militaria collection at a great price, below what I've seen other kepis sell for over the years.I can not emphasize enough the special condition, much better than most, if it can be found at all. The pictures are part of the description. Thanks for looking, and please ask any questions.
