Civil War 1863 Company H 102d New York Regiment Volunteers Memorial Roster

  

Offering for sale a Civil War Soldiers Memorial Roster for Company H 102d Regiment of the New York Volunteers. Per print at the bottom it indicates it was lithographed and printed in color by Ehrgott, Forbriger, & Company in Cincinnati, Ohio after being entered as an Act of Congress in 1863.

The roster lists the regimental field officers and the company officers, of which Julius Spring served as captain, earning the company the nickname "Spring's Delights". It goes on to list all the enlisted men in the company. Interestingly, the roster gives the outcome for many of the soldiers - discharged, wounded, promoted, and deserted. A brief history of the company is given from when they were mustered, company movements, as well as the battles fought - Harper's Ferry, Cedar Mountain, White Sulphur Springs, Chantilly, Antietam, etc.

As the pictures show, the right side of the poster received moisture at some time, causing a stain up and down the right side. Despite this, the graphics and typing impacted by the stain are still clear, bright, and easily readable. There are some minor tears around the edges of the roster as pictured. This roster is a 163 year old document and is not perfect, but still a great displayable piece of history. Please note, I have never removed the backing of the frame, so the description is solely what can be noted under glass. Measurements (framed) - 25.25 inches tall and 20.25 inches.
