This is the only complete history of the largest single unit of Texas troops in the Civil War, the only division in the Confederate army composed of troops from a single state. The unit served primarily in Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana, and was the backbone of the Confederate forces of the Trans-Mississippi West. Its major contributions were in opposition to Gen.
