The immense success of that work led to its publication in the current book form carefully edited to provide a logical flow from the beginning of the war to its end. It includes dozens of maps and art work by the prominent artists and engravers of the day. Part leather books (8 volumes) in Very Good condition, tight and clean with no marks. Pages are clean and white with hint of darkening near edges; end-pages are marbled; top edges are gilded.

Part leather (spine and corners) covers with black titles on white paste-ons or gilt titles on red paste-ons on the spines are clean and bright; some wear to leather corners and edges.
