Items descended from the Civil War veteran, William H. Armstrong, who served with the First New York Mounted Rifles. Research indicates that Armstrong received several promotions during his Civil War service, achieving the rank of 2nd LT.
His regiment fought in 116 actions during the Civil War. 10/2/1861 mustered into "B" Co.NY 1st Mounted Rifles, 12/1/1863 Re-enlisted, mustered out 7/21/1865 at Richmond, VA. Old Vintage 13 Star U.
