Overall the leather is in very good shape there is a little tear on the bottom of one of the spine edges as seen in my photo. Most of the time these are all raggedy but this one has been kept very nice.
THERE ARE 32 CDV'S AND 1 TINTYPE LEFT INSIDE THE ALBUM WITH SOME SPOTS EMPTY. Please see pictures also for description and condition. Most of the cardboard pages are in fairly good shape there's a little bit of wave from the age and some wear along the edges as would be normal in an 1860 album. I can't take photos of every single page. Please see the last picture also similar to some of the wear. This is a true treasure. And many of the cards look to be European by the script on the back of the cards. It is hard for me to tell where they're all from. I know the album says New York on it. Based on dimensions, many pictures appear to be cartes de visite (CDVs), with some light variation in the measurements. The CDV-sized cards measure approximately 2.5" x 3 1/4".
The pictures are well preserved, with only occasional age marks and some smudging, especially along the lower margins. The delicate album paper surrounding the photos and insertion slots have some rips and chips throughout, as shown. There is some light staining and age marks to the white album paper.
There are several empty pages scattered among the pages of images. Some pictures have writing with names on them for example one says "the old man". Beautiful historic authentic album for your collection.
