Although he does not highlight his role, this is the regimental history of the unit noted author Albion W. Tourgée and written by him in the years after he had become a leader in the early civil rights movemen t (having won fame with his 1879 bestseller, A Fool's Errand). The most notable feature of this volume is the signature inside the front cover by original owner Charles D. Price, a veteran of this outfit, and the note by his daughter. Price is indeed listed in the volume.
Price's name is listed in the book's roster of regimental members. A wonderful association piece of a scarce war memoir reprinted by Kent State University Press but uncommon in the 1896 first edition.
