These volumes are in good condition for age. They have original red leather covers with gilt decor. The spines have been replaced or covered in brown leather. The inner hinges are cracked but the hinges are good and held to the hinge backing. The front fly leaves are ink-stamped with a previous owner's information, M.
Each volume has a unique portrait of General Sheridan for the frontispiece and each has intact tissue. The tissue shows foxing as do the title pages. The bindings are very strong and tight. The pages are in very good condition.All are present and bound. There is little or no foxing other than already described. There are no dog-ears or page tears.
The maps are generally in excellent condition with an occasional edge tear. Volume 1 has 500 pages. Volume 2 has 486 pages with index from pages 455 to 486.
