Pages edged in gilt on all sides. Pages are whole, tight and clean with foxing being overall very minimal. Some creased upper page tips at very end of Volume 3. Engraved illustrations retain protective tissues. Over 500 illustrations and 12 fine engravings on steel.

The volumes measure 7 1/2" x 10" and have 1,865 pages. All together they weigh 14 lbs.
