1863 New York Civil War Token - Store Card. Circulated condition as seen in photos with CUDs & Die Clashes. Civil War Tokens were produced between 1862 & 1864 because of the severe shortage of coins during the war.

They became illegal after U. Congress passed a law on April 2, 1864 prohibiting there use. Interesting token with large and small obverse CUDs, light obverse die clash and strong reverse die clash. Outline of Washington's head and date can be clearly seen on reverse (see close-up photos). With bust of George Washington.
