Scarce, illustrated military manual published just before the American Civil War. Includes notes on regiment formation, camp life, and arms & ammunition, along with illustrations and sample record keeping charts. During the Civil War, Viele would serve as a Brigadier General with the U.

Volunteers and as military governor of Norfolk, Virginia. I run a small used book store in Upstate New York.
