Steel-engraved frontispiece portrait of Jefferson Davis and steel-engraved plates of the major Confederate figures, to include Robert E. Lee (all with age-toned tissue guards). Four pages of publisher's advertisements at tear. Corners bumped, spine ends frayed.

Spine a bit darkened with a small chip (see photos). Binding is tight, with slight lean. Appears to have expert reinforcement to inner paper hinges. Bookplate of Stephen Wright Kellogg affixed.

Kellogg, a Yale graduate and member of Skull and Bones, was an American politician, attorney, military officer and judge. A very nice copy of this Confederate classic.
