The Civil War 3 Volume Set by Shelby Foote. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep them for yourself. Good condition 3 Volume Set of 1st Edition Books entitled, "The Civil War" by Shelby Foote.
The publisher is Random House of New York. T he books are not signed by the author. The first volume, Fort Sumter to Perryville, was put out in 1958, a first edition, third printing. Notes third printing on the page behind the title page. Some moderate wear to the dust jacket.
The second volume, Fredericksburg to Meridian, was put out in 1961, a first edition. Some moderate wear to the dust jacket, covered in clear plastic. The third volume, Red River to Appomatox, was put out in 1974, also a first edition book. Cannot tell what printing, as. O dust cover on this volume. An impressed stamp for a previous owner on the front map page and first blank page of the book. We can do that by being a dealer in artwork for over 40 years, better controlling our acquisition costs, keeping commission costs low (if applicable). These books were written by Shelby Foote, whom was one of the analysts/commentators in Ken Burns acclaimed PBS Series, The Civil War. There are illustrations and maps in each book. Slight dusty smell to the books, no mold or mildew issues.Foxing or brown spotting to the pages. No writing or owner marks/stamps in the books, other than what noted above. The books have grayish cloth hardcovers. The pages are well bound together in the volumes and each book still has the finish firmly on the spine. The dust covers are in place on all 3 books.
They each have some minor wear and soiling and tears as shown in the pics. A slight musty/dusty smell to the books. Each book is 9-7/8" tall, by 7" across, by approximately 2 wide. Volume 1 is 840 pages in length.Volume 2 is 988 pages in length. Volume 3 is 1,106 pages in length. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
