Harwell notes in his entry for Chambers's biography of Jackson that Cooke's biography was "the earliest of any importance" and was quickly reprinted in New York. While the Richmond imprint is remarkably scarce, early New York reprints are more readily available. This is a fairly nice copy of an early New York imprint originally printed in 1863.
