1862 Civil War Pass 7th New York Surgeon Alonzo Eisenlord to Washington, DC

  

A very interesting military pass dated September 18, 1862 granting passage from Fort Monroe to Washington for Surgeon Alonzo Eisenlord of the 7th New York Infantry. It is signed at the bottom by a Lieutenant Thomas, but there is also an ink stamp at the lower left corner for Captain Grier Tallmadge of the quartermasters department. On the reverse is a short note reading, Lieutenant Thomas order for transportation to Washington. The pass measures about 4 x 3 1/4 and is in very good condition with a single horizontal crease where it was originally folded.
