New York the Review of Reviews Co. 1911 on back side of Title page says copyrighted 1911 by, Patriot Publishing Company and at the bottom of page says The Trow Press New York. Condition: Volume I "The Opening Battles" pp. 368+ Vol I condition Very Good. Cover has some spots on top back. The corners and spine are very slightly bumped. Top edge rubbed in one spot about 1/2 inch. Volume II condition "Two Years of Grim War" pp 353. Spine crown, base very slightly bumped corners very slight bumping, slight wear. Most pages pristine, a few random spots. When closed Top edge gilt. Bottom page edge has smudge. Volume III" The Decisive Battles" minor bumping to spine extremities and almost no wear on corners. Very light toning to some of near front pages no observed spots or blemishe. Volume 4 "The Calvary" very good to near fine. Volume 5 " Forts and Artillery" near fine. Volume 6 " The Navies" pp 322 Very good Corners and spine near fine some light toning on inside only first several pages. Volume 7" Prisons and Hospitals" pp 352. Very good to near fine. Almost no bumping on outside. Volume 8 "Soldiers Life, Secret Service" no page numbers.
Near fine some very, very light toning to a few pages. Found folded into this book what looks like the remains of a dust jacket for vol one but may just be an advertisement. Volume 9, "Poetry and Elegance of Blue and Gray" no page numbers. Near fine some minor toning on some pages.
Volume 10 " Armies and Leaders" no page numbers but does contain and index to all ten volumes. Best condition of any of the volumes certainly very good but almost fine. Overall set is certainly Very good with parts near fine and fine. All have superb end pages patterned on the front end with Grant and Lee portraits and on the back end with Davis and Lincoln.
All match with a cover blind stamped with Flags on the front and gilt letters and a golden sword on spine. All are tight with good hinges and have a two color title pages with flags. This series is 107 years old. Although the photos in 1911 are black and white they capture the horror and the pride for both sides.
