There seem to be a confusing number of different editions and version of this work, published in various fashions. This one is Pollard's complete history of the Civil war covering 1861-65, in two volume, printed and bound here together.
Vol I covers the first two years of the war in 657 pages. Vol II restarts at page 1 and covers the final three years of the war in 598 pages, concluding with the constitution of the Confederate States of America. I believe, but have not been able to confirm, that this book was also published as "The Lost Cause". It is clearly the pro-Southern, pro-rebellion revisionist work ones would expect from the editor of the Richmond Examiner.
Size : 6" wide by 9" high. Pages : 1258 (errata) plus 5 pages of publisher's advertisements at rear. Condition : Black cloth is heavily worn with spots of damage, corners rounded. Blinding splitting at Publisher's announcement, so initial pages are a little loose.
