Up for sale is a store card token from Gustavus Lindenmueller, proprietor of a saloon or German beer hall (the Odeon), New York, issued during the middle of the Civil War during a coin shortage, 1863. Description : The token is made from copper and measures about 25mm in diameter, about the size of a quarter. It corresponds with Fuld dies 630AQ-4a (R2 rarity). It has been graded at MS63 BN and encapsulated by NGC.

According to NGC's Coin Census, there are only 2 graded finer, with 2 tied at this grade. Condition : Nice example with about 20% red on the obverse.

Interesting roughness on the reverse due to apparent rusted dies. A small spot above the date on the reverse keeps this from an MS64 or higher, but a choice specimen nonetheless.
