It is dated July 8th, 1864 and he writes about the previous "two months hard fighting and marching and still front the enemy on this side of the river" and that they has got so near Atlanta that our marching is ended for some time to come. Sherman has sent back for his siege guns so i think that our sieging soon comes. " He also references a lack of pay writing that "we have not had any pay since we left home last winter. Re-enlisted as a veteran, December 14, 1863; promoted to Corporal, July 1, 1865; mustered out with company, July 17, 1865, at Alexandria, VA. The letter is in nice condition.
