Offered for your consideration is this rare early Civil War Era Folding Campaign Chair or Accent Chair by P. There is a matching chair to this in the Brooklyn Museum which at one point was displayed in their Luce Study Center on the Fifth Floor.

This lovely Victorian chair is made of solid walnut with gold gilt highlights and what I believe to be its original finish. It has small brass heads of putti at the connection of the leather straps which has fabric wrapped coverings. The fabric is a gold brocade in very nice shape with no staining and minimal wear and could possibly use a light overall cleaning to remove any possible soiling. The chair is in wonderful condition with a deep overall patina with the finish having some expected antique wear.

The gold gilt accents are still visible (see images) on the turned and incised wood supports. There is one very old repair on the back connecting rod (see images) which is strong and tight and this does not affect the integrity of the chair. It has a strong fixed seat with movable black metal members hinged to the underside of seat at the sides and attached to the upper front legs below the seat to secure the chair when open for seating and these work as they should. The chair is stamped on one of these supports P. " The chair measures 37" tall, 26 1/2" deep and 25" wide with the seat being 20" wide and 17" deep.
