For your consideration is this original Civil War CDV photograph of Bvt Major General Regis de Trobriand. From Matthew Brady's National Portrait Gallery and was published by E.
This is a very rare CDV showing de Trobriand in uniform with sword at his side. The 55th insignia is clearly shown on his kepi. He most famously fought as a colonel of the 55th New York.
He led the 3rd Brigade of Birney's Division, 3rd Corps at Gettysburg putting up a spirited defense against assaults by General John Bell Hood. His brigade suffered heavy losses, with every third man being a.VG condition with slight curling and some soiling. Very sharp with great detail. It measures about 4" by 2.5".
