HARRISON MILLS A DISABLED SOLDIER OF THE REGIMENT FINE CONDITION PROTECTED IN A CLEAR, ACID-FREE, MYLAR DUST JACKET Original, Sharp, Bright, Clean, Solidly Bound, Antique Book Frontispiece Illustration of the Unit Commander Contains Comprehensive Unit Roster Organized by Company PUBLISHED BY THE 21st REGIMENT VETERAN ASSOCIATION OF BUFFALO, BY PERISSION OF THE AUTHOR, BUFFALO, IN 1887 DORNBUSCH I, NY-258 This is the original, first edition, antique book on the Twenty-First New York Infantry. Published in 1887, the book presents a comprehensive history of the unit during its Civil War service. Organized at Buffalo, New York, and mustered in for two-years state service on May 8, 1861 and subsequently re-mustered at Elmira, New York for three months federal service under the command of Colonel William Findlay Rogers, the unit fought at the Battles of Gainesville, Groveton, Second Bull Run, South Mountain, Antietam, and Fredericksburg.

The regiment was part of Mansfield's Command, Department of Washington before becoming part of the Division of the Potomac. It later served in General Wadsworth's Brigade and General Patricks Brigade, King's 3rd Division, in I Corps of that Army of the Potomac, and Department of the Rappahannock. It was attached to 3rd Brigade, 1st Division, III Corps, Army of Virginia, later returning to I Corps, Army of the Potomac in 1863, before supporting the Provost Marshal as part of General Patrick's Command, Army of the Potomac, until May 1863 when it was mustered out of service.

THIS BOOK IS IN FINE CONDITION This original, antique book is in excellent condition. The book comes protected in a clear, acid-free, Mylar dust jacket (see photo #3). Handsomely bound in brown, textured covers, with bright, gold lettering on the cover, the book is clean and sharp. The gold lettering and image are bright and sharp.

The exterior has no bumping, rubbing or discernible edge wear. The interior is clean and the pages are in excellent condition. There isnt a mark in the book except for an antique signature, No. 81, and name/address stamp on the front end pages as shown. I have not evaluated this signature to determine if it was to a Civil War soldier. The book has no other writing in it. It has no smudging, foxing, pasteboards or other markings, but there is some browning to the front end page as shown.

This is not an ex-library book. The book contains a frontispiece illustration of Colonel Rogers, the units commander. The book contains a complete unit roster, organized by company, with the Civil War service details of each soldier.
