1851 Antique RARE! Pre-civil War Holy Bible Leather Relate to VT Politician

  
For sale is an original antique Holy Bible (Old and New Testament) published by New York American Bible Society. The copy is published and circulated in 1851. This bible is historically important since it once belongs to Laura Carpenter, who is Arthur P. This fact is documented on the front page of the copy. This is a real piece of historical relics. Wikipedia lists Arthur Carpenter as an important political figure in Vermont. Carpenter (March 30, 1867 October 22, 1937) was an attorney and government official from Vermont.

Carpenter received Masonic funeral rites at a memorial service in Brattleboro, VT. He was buried at Arms Cemetery in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts.

I acquired this copy from an estate collection within 50 miles of Arthur's burial place. The bible measures approximately 5 by 3.

The covers are made with black leather with intricate patterns. The bible is in very good condition given its pre-civil age, there is only light exterior wear to the covers. There are some foxing and browning in the interior pages, but the text appears clean and complete. The leather covers and binding are tight and in good integrity.
